This requires the development of skills in marine safety and aquatic rescue as well as achieving and maintaining a level of fitness to enable our members to participate in beach patrols and rescues.<\/p>\n<p>All qualified surf lifesavers wear the internationally recognised red and yellow patrol uniform and can be identified by wearing the red and yellow quartered cap, long sleeved yellow shirt, red shorts, swimming costume, and sun hat.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Surf lifesavers hold the minimum requirement of a Bronze Medallion. The Bronze Medallion teaches a range of activities in order to be able to perform all the basic requirements of a lifesaver including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safety and wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>Surf awareness and skills<\/li>\n<li>Anatomy and physiology<\/li>\n<li>First aid<\/li>\n<li>Resuscitation (CPR)<\/li>\n<li>Communications<\/li>\n<li>Radio communications<\/li>\n<li>Rescue techniques<\/li>\n<li>Carries and Support<\/li>\n<li>Patrol methods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rescue Equipment<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Surf lifesavers utilise a wide variety of equipment to assist in patrolling the beaches of Queensland.
